A performance improvement plan is a document that specifies the particular performance issue with your employee and steps that need to be taken to rectify.
This Performance Management template includes a formal steps checklist and also provides a Performance Improvement Plan.
This formal step should follow on from an initial discussion with an employee. If you have followed the initial steps checklist and your employee’s performance hasn’t improved, it may be time to move to a formal process.
This template has been created to help you plan and conduct a formal performance management meeting. It is recommended that this meeting with your employee is documented. The checklist provides a detailed step by step guide, including:
How to prepare for the meeting
- How to conduct the meeting
- How to follow up after the meeting
Use the Performance Improvement Plan template to help you record the performance issue and what you have agreed to do to improve it. Once completed this plan needs to be signed by both parties.
If this issue is not resolved you may wish to consider a written warning. To assist with this you can also download our Written Warning templates – First/Second Warning or Final Warning letter.
